What are the benefits of both?
Couples differ on their opinions on whether they would like to do a first-look before the ceremony. It’s a newer tradition and it allows the bride and groom a few moments to themselves before they tie the knot. They can use this time to do something special for one another such as exchange gifts, pre-read their vows in private, dance, or cry together. I love watching these and tear up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I’m not kidding…its kind of pathetic at this point! I’m not gonna lie, I am a big fan of the couple choosing to do this before the ceremony! However, here are some pros of both:
First Look Pros:
+ This can be a very sweet private moment for the both of you, sort of like an elopement mini session before the real deal
+ You can take advantage of time for vow readings or other sweet things to share
+ It can help with the wedding timeline
+ Bridal party, groomsmen, and family pics can happen before the ceremony (this helps since big groups can be hard to find and gather afterwards)
+ Your guests won’t be waiting around for you after the ceremony
Aisle Look Pros:
+ Fight the superstition!
+ Can be very traditional and reveal some really sweet raw emotions
+ It is sometimes a life long dream waiting for this moment
+ The anticipation building to the moment can create some more really REAL emotions. However, I would say that the First Look can be just as emotional as the Aisle Look, but the choice is up to you and what you feel is perfect for you.
Whichever they choose, it will still be a beautiful moment, and knowing me…I’ll cry either way.
You can see where it would fit in to an 8-hour wedding itinerary here. Check out this blog for more details on the benefits of both styles.
